Since the beginning of A&Y, I have held onto one dream: to create adaptive baby clothing that makes room for medical needs without losing sight of childhood.

I know the days shaped by care routines, hospital stays and equipment that becomes part of family life. I also know the simple wish to dress your child in something soft, beautiful and truly theirs.

With ZEM™, I wanted to bring those two worlds together. To develop a useful adaptation, then give it a thoughtful place within a carefully finished, contemporary garment.

Designed for feeding tube access

This sleep sack was developed for families looking for clothing that accommodates enteral feeding, including babies with a gastrostomy, commonly called a G-tube.

Its integrated openings are intended to provide a passage for certain feeding tubes, rather than requiring families to improvise an opening in conventional clothing. A front zipper allows for dressing and undressing.

Use with other medical tubing or wires depends on their location, dimensions and your child’s care instructions. Compatibility is not universal: the setup must be assessed for each child.

Scandinavian-inspired design with its own identity

An ivory colour, a sleeveless silhouette, a front zipper and the ZEM™ and A&Y signatures give the featured design its clean, understated character.

The adaptation is part of the design, without taking over. Our intention is simple: to offer an adaptive garment that families choose because it meets their needs, and because they love it.

Size and fit

Two garment lengths are offered: 58 cm — approximately 0–6 months and 65 cm — approximately 3–9 months. The photographed prototype measures 65 cm. These measurements refer to the length of the sleep sack, not your baby’s height. Ages are approximate guides.

Age alone is not enough to select a sleep sack. The neck and arm openings must fit your child without allowing them to slip inside, while leaving room for their hips and legs to move freely. Do not choose an oversized sleep sack to extend its use.

For detailed neck, armhole and chest measurements, contact A&Y before ordering. Your child’s healthcare team can advise on using this garment with their medical equipment.

Use with medical equipment

This sleep sack does not replace your child’s care instructions or the prescribed methods for securing feeding tubes and other lines. Ask your child’s healthcare team to assess the setup before use, particularly during sleep or tube feeding.

The garment does not eliminate the risks of pulling, entanglement or strangulation associated with tubing. Tube routing, securement and monitoring must follow the instructions provided by your child’s healthcare professionals and the relevant equipment manufacturers.

Follow safe sleep recommendations and choose clothing appropriate for the room temperature.

Care and garment checks

Follow the care instructions on the label of the garment you receive. Before each use, check the fabric, seams, openings and fastenings. Do not use the garment if any part is damaged.

Pre-order the first ZEM™ edition

You are discovering a pre-production design. Orders will be fulfilled with final production garments, not the development samples.

Pre-order price: CAD $99.99. The planned price once stock arrives is CAD $109.99. Applicable taxes and any shipping charges are calculated at checkout.

Estimated dispatch from Montréal: approximately 6–7 weeks from the start of production. Our estimate includes 35 days of manufacturing and approximately 10 days of transport to A&Y. Orders will be prepared after the garments are received and checked. Delivery time to your address is additional.

This timeline depends on the start of the production batch: it is not a fixed delay calculated from each individual order. A dated dispatch window will be provided when pre-orders open. We will let you know if the manufacturing or transport schedule changes.

Accessibility is part of the project

I also know the financial reality that can come with complex care. A parent may need to reduce their working hours, pause their career or become a family caregiver. I did not want to overlook that reality when creating ZEM™.

The price reflects development with our textile partner, small-batch manufacturing, certified materials and importation into Canada.

We have chosen to keep ZEM™ pricing measured without giving up certified materials, adaptive design or our commitment to the cause. Because a garment created for these families should also take their financial reality into account.

We are working on a monthly payment option for selected ZEM™ products to help spread their cost over time. The terms will be announced once the option is live. For now, only the options actually offered at checkout are available.

Your questions about the ZEM™ adaptive sleep sack

How is it different from a regular baby sleep sack?

ZEM™ includes openings intended for tubing, in addition to its front zipper. It is designed for a different need than a sleep sack without adaptive access.

Is it designed for a baby with a G-tube?

This is one of the situations considered during development. The gastrostomy location, feeding tube and garment fit must still be compatible and assessed with your child’s healthcare team.

Why choose adaptive baby clothing?

A design that considers a child’s needs may avoid having to modify conventional clothing at home. With ZEM™, we also want to offer thoughtful styling to families looking for function, softness and a garment they love.
