Changing mat and baby lounger: understanding their different uses

Everyday baby accessories serve different purposes. Here is how the ergonomic changing mat and padded baby lounger in the A&Y selection differ.

The changing mat: for diaper changes

The A&Y ergonomic changing mat measures 75 × 43 cm. Its smooth surface can be wiped with a damp cloth, following the instructions. Raised sides and an adjustable strap are part of its design; they never replace constant adult supervision.

The padded lounger: for awake time only

The padded baby lounger has a quilted centre and padded sides. It is for awake time only, with constant adult supervision.

A baby lounger must never be used for sleep, even for a supervised nap. Do not place it in a crib, cradle or bassinet for your baby to sleep. See Health Canada’s safe sleep advice.

Choose according to the intended use

Need a surface for diaper changes? That is the changing mat’s purpose. The padded lounger has a separate role during awake time and does not replace a changing mat or an appropriate sleep space.
